Fast Eddie Chambers Joins Team Fury
British Heavyweight Tyson Fury & his father Peter tell The American's Josh Modaberi about working with US boxer Eddie Chambers
February 13, 2014

'Fast' Eddie Chambers
America has produced some great Heavyweight boxers down the years including the likes of Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. However – amazingly – the last American to hold a world heavyweight title was Shannon Briggs back in 2007.

Eddie Chambers, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is 31–years–old and has a record of 36 win out of 40 fights and only four losses. One of those defeats was against Wladimir Klitschko in 2010 with the IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Heavyweight titles on the line – Chambers was knocked out in the 12th round.

Since that night in Dusseldorf, Germany Chambers has had three fights, winning one and losing the other two. He has now joined Team Fury which is headed by Peter Fury, the dad of top British Heavyweight Tyson Fury.

Tyson, whose bout against another American Joey Abell at the Copper Box, situated in London's Olympic Park this Saturday February 15, talked about what it has been like training and sparring with Chambers.

"Training and working with Eddie has been good," Tyson exclusively told The American. "He is a very nice guy, very experienced, he has brought a lot to the camp.

"Just being around him and listening to what he has got to say about world title fights and fighting unfit and inexperienced – you can really learn a lot from fighters that have been there before you.

"Eddie has been to the top of the division, he has fought for the heavyweight championship of the world and has learnt a lot from it. I'm sure he is going to come back strong and good, the heavyweight division is wide open at the minute and there is no reason why Eddie can't win a world title."

With 'Fast' Eddie Chambers joining Team Fury there are plans for the American boxer to have some fights in the UK.

"It has been a pleasure working with Eddie," Peter Fury said. "He is the ultimate professional and a world class fighter and were glad to have him on board.

"I'm looking forward to getting him out boxing in the UK and building his fan base up over here. We are hopefully looking to see Eddie fighting by the end of March."
